Hardfacing wear pipe — also called chromium carbide overlay (CCO) pipe — is produced by weld-depositing a high-chromium alloy layer onto the inner wall of a steel pipe. When the overlay eventually wears, it can be re-hardfaced on site instead of replacing the whole spool.
EverWear Pipe (Cangzhou Ruicheng Pipeline Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd., founded 2014) performs chromium carbide overlay in Yanshan Economic Development Zone, Cangzhou, Hebei, China.

How the Overlay Works
Chromium carbides crystallize in the weld deposit, forming an extremely hard microstructure in a tougher matrix. Thickness controllable pass by pass (3–12 mm typical). Coverage can be full-bore or zoned to the actual wear pattern.
Technical Features
- Chromium-carbide microstructure. Excellent resistance to sliding abrasion and moderate impact.
- Tailorable thickness and coverage. Built up pass by pass; full-bore or zoned.
- Field-repairable for life. Worn areas re-hardfaced locally, extending spool life indefinitely.
- Steel substrate stays weldable. Standard procedures for flanges and attachments.
- Impact-tolerant. Carbide-in-matrix absorbs impact better than monolithic ceramic.
- Fittings and plate. Hardfaced elbows, tees, reducers and CCO wear plate.

Where Hardfacing Wear Pipe Is Used
- Steel plants: burden handling, sinter and coke lines.
- Cement: kiln feed, raw meal, clinker conveying.
- Power: ash handling in variable-load service.
- Mining: crusher discharge, ore passes with heavy impact.
FAQ
1. CCO hardfacing vs. ceramic lined — how do I choose?
Hardfacing where wear varies, impact is significant, or field repair is wanted. Ceramic where service is stable and particles are fine.
2. Can worn areas be repaired without replacing the pipe?
Yes — re-deposit overlay on the worn zone with matching consumables.
3. What are the fine cracks on the overlay surface?
Normal stress-relief checks; they do not affect wear performance.
4. Can you overlay only part of the pipe?
Yes — zoned overlay is standard practice.
5. What do you need for a quotation?
Diameter, length, overlay thickness and coverage, quantities. Photos of current wear pattern help.
